His Worship the Mayor of Pendle, Councillor Tony Beckett, invites you to come with him on a specially guided tour of Nelson Town Hall.
Councillor Beckett said:
"So far in my year of office I have hosted four Town Hall tours and visitors have thoroughly enjoyed all of them.
"For the majority of people who come along, it's their first time in the Town Hall. They enjoy an inside view of the building and learning more about its fascinating civic history.
"Our next tour is on Saturday 19th March - why not book a place on it and see for yourself?"
Bernard Metcalfe from Nelson History Society will be the guide for the free, two hour long factual journey.
Visitors will be shown the old Police cells, the Council Chamber and civic insignia before having tea and biscuits in the Members' Room.
Bernard recently showed Radio Lancashire's Maria Felix-Vas around the Town Hall on a tour which was broadcast on the station's Saturday breakfast show.
Councillor Beckett added:
"As well as seeing behind the scenes of the Town Hall, you can discover how the present day Pendle Council runs and what my job as the Mayor entails."
The tours will be held on the following Saturdays at 10am at Nelson Town Hall:
- 19th March.
Groups, such as women's institutes, Brownies, Scouts and voluntary organisations, as well as individuals, are all welcome.
Up to 20 people can be accommodated on each tour.
If you are interested in coming along on a Town Hall tour, please contact the Mayor's Secretary, Fiona Standring, on (01282) 661636 or fiona.standring@pendle.gov.uk.
