Bancroft Mill

Description

1920 Textile Mill Cross-Compound Steam Engine with rope drive to a countershaft and powered by a hand-fired Cornish Boiler. We demonstrate weaving tea towels on a Lancashire loom. The towels are on sale in our souvenir shop along with the latest Bancroft Mill DVD in version 7.01 that runs for over 40 minutes.

On steaming days the engine runs between 1.00 and 4.30pm whilst the whole site is available for viewing from 11.00am. We are rebuilding an older unique engine from a mill in Bradley near Skipton, this can also be viewed. There is normally ample free parking and the site is 95% disabled friendly. Refreshments are available from 1.00pm. on steaming days.

The Museum is open on Saturdays from 11.00 until 3.30pm, none of the engines is normally running and site work is proceeding, some areas may be temporarily closed to visitors whilist work is undertaken. Entry is free.

Steaming Day entry: £5.00 adult / £4.00 child and concession / £10.00 family ticket. Under 6 years free.
