The festival starts on Saturday 30th August and ends on Sunday the 7th September. Pendle's award-winning event is now regarded as the biggest free walking festival in the country.
There will be free guided walks every day to suit walkers of all abilities, ranging from easy walks of a couple of miles to fantastic challenge walks like the Pendle Way. We also have the challenge of the country's newest long distance route, The Lancashire Witches Way, from Pendle to Lancaster in stages, and the 23 mile Pendle Marathon - which is a ONE day challenge walk! This year we are also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with a number of walks, including the Pendle Hill Outlier.
There are many walks which take in the area's fascinating past, including the Pendle Witches Trail, and Beating the Bounds walk in Barnoldswick. The Old tradition has it that the heads of boys were bounced on the boundary stones once, so that they would remember where the boundaries were! There are also a number of pub walks and many walks with nice lunch spots.
