Charlotte & the Shuttleworths walk 8 – 9 mile walk to historic Gawthorpe Hall home of Charlotte Brontë’s friends the Shuttleworths, using the Brontë, Pendle and Burnley Ways. (Gawthorpe Hall is a National Trust property, entrance fee, cafe).
This free guided walk is one of a number of walks and other events taking place to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of famous literary genius, Charlotte Bronte, in 1816. Charlotte and her sisters often visited the beautiful village of Wycoller in Pendle, and Wycoller Hall was the model for Ferndean Manor in her novel "Jane Eyre".
