ARVO PART Silouans Song 'My Soul Yearns after the Lord' ELGAR Serenade for Strings, Op.20 VIVALDI Concerto in F RV 569 VIVALDI The Four Seasons Nicola Benedetti Violin Gabor Takacs Nagy Music Director
Our 2014/15 journey begins with a trademark Camerata programme of contrast, this time of religious and worldly inspiration. Joined by one of the world’s most phenomenal violinists, Scottish-born Nicola Benedetti, Camerata's Music Director Gábor Takács-Nagy will lead the orchestra in Vivaldi’s well known masterpiece, The Four Seasons, and one of Elgar’s personal favourites, the Serenade for Strings. And then silence. Experience the stilling and film-like sound world of Silouan’s Song – a breathtaking hymn for string orchestra written by the famed Estonia composer, Arvo Pärt.
‘…it was thrilling to hear and watch Nicola Benedetti in a truly risk-taking performance that lived so much in the body and fused the sinews of the violin and the nerve-system of the player.’ Hilary Finch, The Times
Pre-concert talk: Gábor discusses the creative process behind choosing this season’s music with Sam McShane Head of Creative Programming.
