A series of walks for the 400th Anniversary of the Pendle Witch Trials.
In 1612, a number of people in the Forest of Pendle were accused of practicing Witchcraft.
They were accused, and after local interrogation, were taken to Lancaster Castle for trial. Some died before the trial. some were tried, some were aquitted, but the majority were hanged.
These walks cover the area in which they lived. You will be walking the roads and pathways they took, seeing the farms, villages and other notable areas where they committed their so-called offences, and seeing the house where the first interrogations took place before they were taken to Lancaster for trial and execution.
The walks will take place on various dates between April and August. Details of these walks can be found elsewhere on this site by searching 'Witches Walks 2012'
