If you wish to dine off site there are many quality restaurants and pubs serving excellent food just a few minutes drive away, some of them very family friendly with indoor and outdoor play areas and children's menus.
Small family groups are welcome and the children can enjoy feeding the many rescue animals on the farm including eight Shetland Ponies and two African Grey Parrots (these two talk incessantly) and children are encouraged to both pet and feed the animals.
For Culture Vultures they have an onsite Coal Mining Museum with a collection of memorabilia that would rival the National, this was set up by us as the site is where in the early 1900s,Woodend Colliery stood and now we honour the men who toiled underground to power a Nation and whose efforts have largely been forgotten, and so quite often Miners will call in to see us and always have a tale to tell especially to the children. We attract guests from as far afield as Saudi Arabia, Russia, Australia and most of Europe as well as people from within a 10 mile radius
