Located on the outskirts of Barnoldswick, Weets Cottage is ideal for couples and small families who love the outdoors, with beautiful walks from the doorstep. This stone-built cottage offers comfortable and well-proportioned accommodation which extends over three storeys. It enjoys an elevated position on a residential street which is located in the old part of the town. The town’s amenities including a good variety of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants are within a 5-minute walk. There is a twice-weekly market and in the summer holidays, it even has its own ‘beach’ in the market square! There are many beautiful walks including the Weets Hill walk after which the cottage is named, canal walks, walks around Lake Burwain and Pendle Hill. Should you fancy something a bit more challenging, why not try the 3 Peaks Challenge which is very accessible from here. Other activities available locally include golf, fishing, a leisure centre and swimming baths. For the more adventurous there is a ski centre in Sabden, 15 miles, and the Urban Altitude experience in Colne, 6 miles. Colne will also appeal to shoppers with its Boundary Mill retail outlet.
Surrounded by the Pennines on the Lancashire/Yorkshire border, Barnoldswick is the ideal base from which to explore this beautiful part of the country. Visit Brontë Country, Yorkshire Dales, Ribble Valley and the Forest of Bowland (AONB). The cities of Manchester, Leeds and Preston are within an hour’s drive thanks to the M65.
Places of interest within easy driving distance include Skipton, 9 miles, Bolton Abbey, 14 miles, Clitheroe, 13 miles, Haworth, 15 miles, and Malham, 15 miles. An hour’s drive will take you into Cumbria’s beautiful Lake District, or for those who prefer a coastal landscape, the Fylde Coast with popular resorts such as Blackpool and Lytham St Annes is also under an hour’s drive.
Children will enjoy the Thornton Hall Farm, 2 miles, Wild Boar Park at Chipping, 20 miles, Hesketh Farm at Bolton Abbey, or why not take a ride on the Settle-Carlisle railway.
