The Roberts engine will be under steam for the second time in 2013.
During this year we join with Rolls Royce plc in celebrating its 70th year in Barnoldswick, remembering 1943 when that company took the design and development work done by Whittle and from it produced the first working gas turbine. Barnoldswick’s Bankfield Shed was turned over from weaving to cotton to become the Ministry of Aircraft Production’s No.6 Shadow Factory.
