From Higham to Ightenhill Manor and Gawthorpe Hall

A seven mile walk including the 17th century Gawthorpe Hall where Charlotte Brontë stayed, visiting the Kay-Shuttleworth family. (Entrance fee.)

This free guided walk is one of a number of walks and other events taking place to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of famous literary genius, Charlotte Bronte, in 1816. Charlotte and her sisters often visited the beautiful village of Wycoller in Pendle, and Wycoller Hall was the model for Ferndean Manor in her novel "Jane Eyre".
