Nestled at the base of Pendle Hill, Swaledale Cottage is the perfect country retreat for those wanting to explore the local area. The cottage is beautifully presented, with a great mix of charm and character whilst at the same time providing all the contemporary and comfortable features of a holiday home. Swaledale Cottage is located on the edge of the village of Barley, which is within the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village has two good country pubs, a café and a picnic area, all within easy walking distance of the property. Barley is in the heart of Pendle and is steeped in history, most notably for the witch trials.
For those keen on walking, you have many routes to choose from; try climbing the Pendle steps, immerse yourself in history on the Pendle Witch Way or take a relaxing stroll beside Ogden reservoir. There’s even a sculpture trail where you can take in a range of unique and intriguing sculptures made by four local artists. For those keen on cycling, there is an abundance of great cycle routes all around Pendle and the Ribble Valley.
