From the traditional processional to contemporary D.I.Y messages of protest, this mass presentation of banners in the epic spaces of the iconic Brierfield Mill comes from heritage collections and campaigning groups across the UK.
The exhibition will be open to the public between 12 - 4pm on Weekends only. Fridays by appointment.
This mass exhibition will be presented in the epic spaces of the iconic Brierfield Mill, Pendle from 3rd October until 3rd November 2019 and is created in partnership with Mid Pennine Arts and Pendle Radicals.
A weekend of celebration will be held Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th October which will include workshops and discussions as well as a performance by The Commoners Choir.
The banner exhibition which will form a major part of the British Textile Biennial 2019. The British Textile Biennial throws a spotlight on the nation’s creation, innovation and expression in textiles against the backdrop of the impressive infrastructure of the cotton industry in Pennine Lancashire.
