POAF IS COMING! The inaugural POAF (Pendle One Act Festival) will be held in April 2013 at The ACE Centre in Nelson. Extending over two nights, POAF will feature NINE societies from all over the North West, all competing for six major trophies for Best Actor, Actress, Director, Production, Best Moment of Theatre, plus a very special Audience Award.
The man with responsibility for adjudicating the Festival will be Andrew Rawlinson, member of the Guild of Drama Adjudicators who will give each team a verbal adjudication, followed by the presentation of awards at the end of the final performance.
The Festival is the brainchild of a group of individuals from The Garrick, The ACE Centre and ACT (Association of Community Theatres) who felt that the One Act genre has been somewhat overlooked in recent years. The One Act format has a reputation for being a perfect training ground for new actors, directors and even writers, and so the POAF team felt it was important to raise its profile and organise the Festival.
Full details of the event – and a Festival Pack can be found on the ACE website at www.acecentre.co.uk or at www.festival.thegarrick.org.
