The artist Beth Derbyshire said:
“The Ark celebrates the industry, natural resources and communities that have shaped and been shaped by the natural landscape of the region.”
It’s a taster of the art projects that will take place in the area over the next three years and which will involve important canal-side landmarks like Brierfield Mill.
The Ark was commissioned by Creativity Works and funded by Arts Council England.
The Ark project is supported by In-Situ, a not-for-profit organisation based at Brierfield Library. In-Situ is directed by creative collaborator Paul Hartley, environment artist Kerry Morrison and Pendle’s own contemporary artist William Titley. www.in-situ.org.uk
