About
One of a series of walks for the 400th Anniversary of the Pendle Witch Trials
10am.start. Park at the top of Higham village, just off A6068
We walk through Hiigham village, visiting the courthouse and jailhouse before taking the Pendle Way into the hamlet of Sabden Fold, through the farms associated with ‘bewitchings’, to Newchurch for refreshments. We then walk over the 'Rigg-of-England' and down to visit the old hall where the witches were first interrogated and then visit the birthplace of another of Pendle’s notables, Sir Jonas Moore, a mathematician and surveyor who was the principal driving force behind the establishment of the Royal Observatory, Greenwich. We then return to Higham.
