2016 marks the 200th anniversary of Charlotte Bronte, the author of books like “Jane Eyre”. The famous Bronte sisters were frequent visitors to Wycoller in Pendle, where they were inspired by the wild landscapes and the colourful local history, like that of the Cunliffe family. Wycoller Hall is said to be the model for Ferndean Manor, where Jane Eyre is emotionally reconciled with Rochester. A number of events have been put on especially. These will open the world of Charlotte Bronte to you. There are walks, craft events, and a photography workshop. All of which can be found in our Bronte Events Programme. One of the walks featuring the Ferndean Way can also be downloaded from this site.
